DOT hosts media for Dine VI

The Department of Tourism hosted journalists from numerous top-tier outlets during its inaugural Restaurant Week on the island of St. Croix from Thursday, October 29 to Sunday, November 8, 2015. The outlets that were represented included Saveur Magazine, Forbes,, Sherman’s Travel, Black Enterprise, Profiles 98 Magazine, Intermezzo, SIP Magazine, and The Dine VI culinary showcase was a 10-day celebration of the cuisine, culture and community of St. Croix, and featured an array of events and dining experiences in addition to traditional prix fixe menu offerings. Event highlights experienced by the journalists included the Frederiksted Waterfront Entertainment and Food Truck Festival, Food Cruise and Feast Christiansted.

DOT attends CLIA Executive Partner Summit in Miami

Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty represented the U.S. Virgin Islands at the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Executive Partner Summit in Miami October 27-29, 2015. The summit offered networking events, engaging seminars and opportunities to hear directly from cruise line members and industry leaders. One of the highlights was the President’s Panel, with cruise line presidents from Carnival, Celebrity Cruises and MSC Cruises USA, Inc. talking about industry trends.

DOT hosts inaugural Norwegian Air flight to St. Croix

Department of Tourism and Port Authority officials welcomed the inaugural Norwegian Air flight to St. Croix on Friday, November 6. Arriving from Copenhagen via San Juan, the flight included travelers and journalists from Denmark seeking to explore St. Croix’s Danish history. The flight was greeted with a water cannon salute while visitors were treated to welcome reception from USVI officials. Norwegian Air operates every Friday through April, 2016.

St. John one of Condé Nast Traveler’s 2015 “Best Islands in the World”

St. John was ranked #13 in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2015 Reader’s Choice Awards “Best Islands in the World” category in October. More than 128,000 travelers participated in the magazine’s 28th annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey, submitting millions of ratings and thousands of comments to help them create their winning list of favorites.

DOT gears up for St. Croix Meetings and Incentives Symposium

The Department of Tourism will host top-tier planners, buyers and meetings and incentives media on St. Croix December 2-6, 2015. The attendees will visit various hotels and venues on the island during their stay, and also take part in many activities. Meetings outlets that will be represented include Black Meetings and Tourism, Facilities and Destinations and Short Escapes.
